“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”
“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”
“You shouldn't wear that body.”

This was a very cool LP in that it has lazer cuts in it. Very reminiscent of the wildly colored 45s in my youth.Lawren

And, while I can certainly see that we would want to strive to not use repeats, or we could easily get caught in an endless loop, but without searching back through the entire thread, I'm not sure I'll aways remember what's been used, or even KNOW what was used before I started playing, so I don't think it's necessary to call someone out for using a repeat, unless it begins to be a habit. Besides, it wasn't even the same artist, much less the same video, so THERE!

If you're not familiar with Sister Rosetta, watch that video. Especially after the middle when she really cuts loose with that guitar. You'll realize where Chuck Berry got some of his ideas, and that Chuck could have sold his soul to the Devil and still not been able to match licks with Sister Rosetta.
Sister Rosetta's work has long been undeservedly overlooked and ignored. She is one of the finest guitar players and gospel singers of all time - she also did some secular stuff as well. But she was a black female in the 40s, 50s, and 60s playing what was almost exclusively a "male" instrument (female guitar players were expected to strum). So she got overlooked while record companies promoted and hustled her male inferiors.
Recently Maria Muldaur, who is a big Tharpe fan, pulled together a cast of other female singers to do a tribute album to Tharpe. Titled Shout, Sister, Shout, the performers include (among others) Muldaur, Bonnie Raitt, Janis Ian, Joan Osborne, Phoebe Snow, Odetta, and Michelle Shocked. Great stuff.
Thanks for the opportunity to link up with this one. This is obviously one of my faves.“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”
