Love Terry Prachett when I'm in the mood for something light, amusing and punny!

            • Hubby's the Pratchett fan. Been on my list for years, but I haven't actually read any. I need to take more vacations; that's the only time I read fiction.

With 5 kids I can see that.

I devour books usually of the mystery/detective ilk. A politcal biography or historical fiction once in a while. The ones that make you snort soda out your nose are always welcome.

I should have said I don't get to read much fiction of my choice. Just finished Robert Fitzgerald's Illiad with eldest, and will be finishing The Phantom Tollbooth with second son this week.

Read any of Tony Hillerman's Joe Leaphorn mysteries? Read one some years back and liked it alright, finally read the second last winter and ended up reading four or five of them this year (with three Jim Chee in the middle -- Chee cracks me up, Leaphorn does not, but I like Leaphorn better). Also like Edmund Crispin's, which are not snort soda out your nose funny but I find them amusing. I wish Georgette Heyer's mysteries were as funny as her regencies.

There are far worse than The Phantom Tollbooth! The movie version was also quite enjoyable with Milo played by the actor who was Eddie in The Munsters. Not sure if that can be found at this point in time.

I've tried Hillerman and she doesn't do anything for me. Picked up Crombie lately which I enjoy. Monk novels are amusing. C J Box is another new one. J D Robb novels float my boat too but I have problems remembe ring which I've already consumed as they are all X in Death titles. <sigh> age will do me in yet.

Oh, I agree, but I've read it a gazillion times already, which is true of most of the stuff I read with the kids (Harry Potter excepted ). The movie's still available somewhere; saw it for the first time a few years ago, although I can't remember where.

From what I've heard, most J.D. Robb fans struggle to keep track of her titles, regardless of age. Up to and including those who think they got steadily less mystery and more stupid romance. Never read them myself; hate her romances (as Nora Roberts) so it seemed sort of pointless. Too many others to try first!

Sadly appropriate song, especially considering his doctor's conviction this past week.
