I'd like to journey to the center of hubby's mind -- got a quote on a rental, which was about what I'd figured it would be, and he backed out. Not sure if he doesn't want to go to Nashville, or just doesn't want to go anywhere this summer. I'm fine with an "at home" vacation (tons of stuff I want to do in Chicago and we promised the kids a trip to Indy a good year back), so maybe I'll just make the decision for him.
I found some units in May at places I'd like to go that hubby was good with, plus I'm guessing the real issue with Nashville in August is that he's not sure what will be going on with his job by then (he's been told they're not laying him off but doesn't trust the new owners, I suspect), since when we got to talking about a Staycation, he said he did really want to go somewhere. OTOH, the girls like the idea of a Staycation and protested loudly when I started talking about taking a trip again.
Should have stuck with my original plan of going to Orlando in May, that's what.

I can sympathize with you on the Vacation deal....We've been staying within driving distance for the past few years,(again for job related reasons ~ although I'd LOVE to travel......). We're just going to our home resort this year,(an hour away), and I'm searching for ME or CT for next summer.
Sorry to hear you're "trapped" near home as well. Some beautiful and interesting places in those states, at least. Dunno how close it is to you, but Acadia in Maine is the National Park I'd most like to visit.
