As a bit of an aside -
I've always appreciated how some classic soul singers were able to merge country and blues into their music. You Don't Know Me is a fine example from Ray Charles' oeuvre. Other artists that come to mind are Solomon Burke and Etta James. Etta one time, in an intro to "I'd Rather Go Blind", commented that she sometimes felt more like a country singer than a blues singer.Last edited by T. R.
