Didn't ignore it; just didn't see it. It took me awhile to compose my post, and by the time I had posted it, susieq had posted ahead of me. Que sera, sera.
“Maybe you shouldn't dress like that.”
“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

Yep.... that happens. It was quite a long, but interesting, post.
If you're not familiar with Sister Rosetta, watch that video. Especially after the middle when she really cuts loose with that guitar. You'll realize where Chuck Berry got some of his ideas, and that Chuck could have sold his soul to the Devil and still not been able to match licks with Sister Rosetta.
Sister Rosetta's work has long been undeservedly overlooked and ignored. She is one of the finest guitar players and gospel singers of all time - she also did some secular stuff as well. But she was a black female in the 40s, 50s, and 60s playing what was almost exclusively a "male" instrument (female guitar players were expected to strum). So she got overlooked while record companies promoted and hustled her male inferiors.
Thanks for the opportunity to link up with this one. This is obviously one of my faves.
WOW! You weren't kidding! She's phenomenal! Thanks for turning us on to her!
