Best I can tell, my brother doesn't care one way or the other about the Eagles. OTOH, my Eagles appreciation (and my appreciation of many former Eagles) is one of the few musical touchpoints between myself and most of my in-laws -- they tend toward guitar bands, I don't.

When this album came out, there was a lot of talk that it was the album "fans who'd loved U2 from the git-go hated, and new fans loved". I did knew a few people who bailed about that point (because U2 had "gone commercial"), but I'd been following U2 for some time and had all of their music going back to 45s that were only released overseas, and I loved it.

Too obvious.

When revisiting remakes of some of these old songs by the original artists, it's interesting to me to note how when it's obvious they should have left well enough alone, and when the passage of time and life actually adds nuance and depth.
