Like the song, don't like the video. I like the dancing, but there isn't enough of it and it's so often obscured by cars or snow or whatever. Do not like Macaulay Culkin, who always seemed smarmy to me, even when he's trying to be charming (which he is not in the opening). Only time I've ever liked the "rebellious rock and roller kid overturning authority figure" thing -- and even then, not much -- was in Twisted Sister's "We're Not Gonna Take It" video. By the time this one came out, the trope was way, way, waaaaaay overdone. Finally, do not like the morph effect -- yeah, it was computer genius for the time, but it still creeps me out, which is not the intended purpose I am sure! Creeped me out in Willow, too, which is the only other time I've seen it where the intention was not creepy.

Prayers and/or good vibes requested, which ever work for you. My dad had surgery Tuesday for prostate cancer, came through it with flying colors, the surgeon thought he got it all, dad got to come home today; however the biopopsy came back and he's got an aggressive cancer that already spread to the lymph nodes (which I keep trying to call nymph nodes...), so he's got radiation therapy in his future. *sigh* My Uncle Dale just started his radiation sessions a few weeks back, and supposedly it's less disruptive than chemo, so there's that.

Heading to Wisconsin Dells this weekend with hubby and some kids, and still have hopes that when I get home again I'll be all energized and organized and get back on track. It could still happen, right?

Oh my gosh.................I am so sorry you all are going through this. Rest assured prayers are with you and yours. DH was diagnosed with Non-Hodgkin Lymphoma a year and a half ago, finished chemo eleven months ago, sees his Oncologist every two months, (was every month for a while), but so far all's well. They've come so far with treatment.................Even Chemo is so different than it was, DH never got sick, just very tired. Enjoy your weekend, and think good thoughts.

Hoping and praying he stays clear. My mom way downplayed dad's initial diagnosis, saying if you live long enough, you deal with cancer, but I don't think I would have been so cool about it if it were my hubby, and I'd definitely be wound right now!

That is very true. And it's a strange disease. My grandmother neglected her symptoms until the cancer had spread to multiple organs, but responded so well to treatment that she was declared in complete remission however many years later. OTOH, they tried everything possible with my cousin, couldn't get a handle on it, and he died from it when he was in his forties. His then-toddler nephew was diagnosed with leukemia a couple months later, and that was a roller coaster ride for a while, but this past year the little guy was finally declared in full remission (where he's been clear of it long enough he's considered at normal risk). Next thing we know, my uncle and my dad get diagnosed practically the same time; dad's got an aggressive strain, but despite being the one whose son and grandson got cancers, my uncle's cancer was so slow growing they at first said they usually don't even bother with it when someone's his age (he's pushing 80). After they found out that my uncle's mom is still alive (at 110!), they decided to treat him after all. But even if the treatment fails, he's got a while before it would be a big deal, way longer than dad if dad's doesn't respond. You would think the guy who has all these cancerous descendents would be the one hit hard, but cancer doesn't like to follow the rules I guess.

On the upside, I'm really glad dad went for the surgery upfront. They don't usually operate on a guy as old as dad is; one of dad's nurses was talking to him and looked at his chart and exclaimed, "Wow, you are old," because he's so far past the usual cut off age (seven years past?). So first off, he got the more effective initial treatment rather than trying chemo, and secondly he's got general good health in his favor.

I said this weekend; we're actually leaving for Wisconsin Dells tomorrow, hopefully before noon, and then getting back sometime Friday. But I cannot seem to get it into my head we're going, and have not even remotely packed yet. Haven't even pulled the suitcase out, and it's nearly 7 p.m. So I sit here taping away at the keyboard.... Well, I did pick out the books for my book bag, so the important part is done.

                      Have a great week!

I was a basket case for a while...........we both were.............. But then I figured I had to be strong for him, otherwise he wouldn't have the strength to fight. This ordeal just puts everything into perspective ~ you realize what's really important! Don't sweat the small stuff ~ cherish every moment!!

Always thought this a tad cynical, but mostly mellow -- however, it's apparently about Nazis.

Yeah, it was pretty great. Found a new-to-us state park basically in the Dells, where you can do a loop starting with a climb up to the top of a ridge (there are stairs most of the way), walk along the ridge, then down the far end (more stairs -- and more pine needles, which can be slick!), and you walk back between this swampy area to your right with the cliffs to your left. I'm sure the bugs are out full force in the summer, but not an issue for us. Distant traffic noise, especially up on the ridge (although it was out of sight, I-90 goes along one side of the park), which is probably not so noticeable when the trees are leafed out, along with plenty of bird calls (and maybe some of the bird calls I didn't recognize were peepers), but basically we had the place to ourselves. Not quite Witches Gulch (which was still closed for the season), but still cool.

Didn't get back to great news, because they decided not to remove everything at dad's first check up, but although he's not healing as fast as hoped, the doctors say he's doing fine for his age.

Thanks. Wise observation, I know, but hard to remember sometimes.
