  • Did anyone see Slumdog Millionaire yet?

I just saw this flick. Really interesting view on Modern Life in India. Very moving (emotional, and fast moving) story. Funny at times as well. Looking for opinions and discussion without spoiling.

I heard about on NPR and from friends at work. Sparked my interest.

We saw it and enjoyed it; however, I wouldn't vote for it for best picture. For me, it can't be best picture if it doesn't have best actor or actress. Without major kudos to acting, how can it be the best picture. It was definitely the most enjoyable of the films out there, for me. Doubt was outstanding, but no one would call it "enjoyable." The Wrestler has spectacular acting, but it is not "enjoyable"; in fact, it's so brutal it's upsetting. Slumdog Millionaire, while it has violence and disturbing scenes, is an enjoyable movie, though, and it seems to be the favorite for Best Picture.

      Very Enjoyable

Well crafted movie with three different age actors playing the three main charactors.
      Funny as well as sad.
Open my eyes to different aspects of India.
India style dance routine during the credits at the end similiar in the group style of Thriller or Beat It.

We enjoyed the film. It is hard to believe another humans could treat children this way. The living conditions portrayed in the movie were shocking.
I found it interesting how every question asked in the game show related to his life experiences. I also can’t believe I found someone I like less than Regis.
It is little wonder how India workers have taken over numerous jobs formally held by American workers. I no longer purchase Linksys, Dell or AT&T products. I guess I’m off subject, so yes we found it to be a good movie. It doesn’t come near being Oscar material. India produces more movies than
all other countries including the US. Their films, like most of their other exports, are still primitive by modern standards.

Hey this Flick won a few Oscar's. You know it was a good Movie, but I did not think it would win Best Picture!

I heard this morning that originally it was supposed to go straight to video.

Yes that apparently is true! That would have been a waste! Something about Warner Bros backed out and Fox Searchlight picked it up for distribution. What a bunch of crap the studios put these movie makers thru. Then they wonder why you can bootleg the stuff in the streets!
