I have been hearing raves for this film since it was previewed on Wednesday.
It opens today.

I don't think I could see it in a theatre though. I know what my reaction will be and I would prefer to go thru a box of kleenex in the privacy of my own home.

Are any of you planning on going to see it?

Living here in NY and seeing the trade center come down from an eyes view was enough. At the moment, I am not planning on seeing it again as I have lived it.

I'm not a New Yorker and I certainly have no plans to see it. In my view the film industry must be sick to make a film about anything directly related to 9/11 this soon after the event.
My opinion of the film industry is only strengthened by an article I read today about another film about to hit the screens about the kidnap and murder of a 15 year old boy about 5 years ago. One of the alleged killers has only recently been arrested and is still to stand trial. I therefore have a problem on 2 levels; Firstly how can a film about actual events be truly factual when all the information (evidence) isn't yet in the public domain. Secondly as much of the film must be based on speculation and hearsay will it damage the chances of a fair trial?

I watched the TV version (don't remember the name) and I honestly think that a lot of people do need to see it... What happened that day could happen again and people need to learn and remember the lesson of that day however terrible they were....

I would love to see the movie if the reviews indicate their is not too much political bias one way or the other...

We lost three friends on 911, and I am not planning on seeing this movie.

One of our best friend's young son worked on the top floor.....our neighbor never came home on 911, we waited for days for news of a miracle.....a friend and golf buddy of my husband was also a victim.

Not to mention the non-stop tradgic stories of other people who were killed from friends, and relatives.

Nope...not going......

I worked in World Trade 2 ( the south tower ) on the 70th floor for 4 years. I cannot bear to watch the re-runs of it's collapse. MY DH was coming out of the PATH system when the first plane hit.....I didn't hear from him for hours because of the phone problems...and of course we lost friends and neighbors.

and yet I believe the director, the relatives of the people on this plane and quarterbore are correct. This needs to be addressed and viewed and remembered.

From what I hear this is nothing at all like the TV version ( which is airing again tonight). Not at all political.

Very tightly done in real time. Many of the "actors" are real people reinacting what happened that day ( FAA air traffic controllers).

I may have to go see it. I won't be the only one red eyed and shaken coming out. I only wonder if I can take it without regressing.

In reading the posts of you who live in the New York area, I get so sad for all of you who were so deeply impacted on so many levels: friends, neighbors lost; seeing the place you used to work collapse; the trauma of the event that will stay with you forever. It was hard for us in the west to see what happened, but you guys lived it and are living it. My heart goes out to each of you.

I will be going to see it this weekend for two reasons.

1. We can never forget
2. I want to send a message to Hollywood that I'm tired of seeing their anti-American phony crap like Syriana.

I am glad that those that made the movie got the blessing of the relatives that lost loved ones first.

When I think about all that took place on 9/11 I STILL am shocked to see it when footage is shown on TV.

I watched the version on TV that aired a short while ago and used up a lot of tissue by the end. I have no desire to relive the experience, but I did wonder whether we ought to buy this movie when it comes out on DVD for our children, so they know some of the history. But DH is against it, saying that we own the 9/11 Commissioners' Report so our kids can read that for history. Still undecided.

I plan to see it when it comes out on video and I also plan to watch the TV version.

The towers coming down should be shown several times a day on ALL TV networks and news stations. How soon we forget .

It's imperative that young people never forget that day and for future generations to be reminded of what CAN and probably WILL occur again if we, as a country, become complacent. That's exactly what terrorists are waiting for. Time means nothing to them and they willl attack again when we've forgotten and are vulnerable.

Perhaps that may be true for the rest of the country/world. But I think it's safe to say for those of us who lived it and lost friends and loved ones, that we will never forget it. And I don't want to get political here, but I don't think we can ever prepare against the inconceivable, and it's important to remember the principles upon which we have founded our own freedom. Ok, I am going to try hard not to respond to any more posts on this topic... Mods please delete me if I do!!!

Well, the movie is out on Video and I never got to see it when it was out in theaters so when I saw it for sale last week I bought it... Well, in my way to remember 9-11 we watched the movie for the first time last night...

I am really glad to have watched the movie and to relive the experiences of five-years-ago and to get an idea of what those hero's on United Flight 93 tried to do as well as what they prevented in doing what they did...

May we never forget that day or these hero's that lost their lives trying to save their own lives as well as trying to prevent their plane from being used as a weapon against others...
