  • Missing 11 yr old autistic girl in the Orlando area..

This has gotten quite a bit of media attention, but I thought I could share it here as well..

Please Help Us Find Nadia Bloom

Nadia Bloom is missing. She has been missing from her Winter Springs, Florida, home since Friday, April 9, 2010 around 4:30 in the afternoon. Her parents found her abandoned bike in the upright position, her helmet hanging from the handlebars. There was no sign of a struggle.

Nadia Bloom was last seen wearing blue shorts and an orange t-shirt. She was also carrying a backpack with a black horse on it when she went missing. She is five feet tall and weighs about 85 pounds. She has brown hair and brown eyes.

Nadia Bloom is mildly autistic and the parents believe she may have wandered off, using the new camera she had just acquired, and has somehow become lost.

Sadly, this looks like foul play.

I hope she is okay but 3 days and no sight of her is not a good sign.

Thoughts are with her and her worried family. There are a lot of dangers, and all types of "alligators" ... what a world at times, what a world.

How true ! One has to wonder which is the worst predator, human or other.

Missing Florida Girl With Asperger's Found Alive - ABC News

Nadia Bloom, Missing Florida Girl With Asperger's, Found Alive

11-Year-Old Found by Volunteer After Five Days in Florida Wilderness

              April 13, 2010

A volunteer searcher has found alive an 11-year-old girl with Asperger's syndrome who had been lost in an alligator infested woods since Friday, police said. Nadia Bloom was discovered by a member of her church who was searching for the girl near the swamplands around Winter Springs, Fla.

Bloom's family and police stood on the edge of the woods, waiting for rescuers to bring home the girl who police said suffered only from bug bites and dehydration.

According to ABC News affiliate WFTV, she was discovered waist deep in water by James King, a member of Metro Church in Winter Springs.

Police said the woods were too thick to evacuate her by helicopter and she was being carried out of the woods by 15 deputies.

"She's doing surprisingly well. She has bug bites and some dehydration," Brunelle said.

Brunelle said Bloom's parents had spoken to the girl via cell phone after she had been reached by rescuers.

It's so good to see this with a positive outcome.. Thank you to those who said a prayer for the little girl!

The area where she was lost is a feeder system for Lake Jessup. There is no other lake in the world with as high a concentration of alligators. I used to visit the Black Hammock Fish Camp there during the Gator Hunt season to watch them bring in their catch during the night. It was routine to see massive 12 to 14 foot gators pulled from those waters.

Members of her church were encouraged NOT TO search the area, because of the risk to the untrained searchers. Thank God in this instance that they disregarded the advice of the local police. I heard an interview with a member of the church who stated that because of her type of autism, they were afraid she'd simply hide from searchers if she didn't know them.

                      Hug your kids tonight..
