  • Global Warming or pole shift ???

Scientist have shown that magnetic north has moved southerly aprox 1000 + miles with most of the change happening in the last 20 years. Does this mean that the strange weather we are having is not due to global warming but instead to an accelerating magnetic pole shift of over 35 miles per year ???

Does this also mean that the tilt of the earth has changed ? If so the weather we have been having makes sense to me because the west coast would be tilting north ( colder) while the east coast tilts south (warmer).

    Most likely just La Nina.

Magnetic polar shifts causing massive global superstorms - by Terrence Aym - Helium

I really wasn't paying attention to this last year but it seems like its starting to happen.

"The earth's climate has been significantly affected by the planet's magnetic field, according to a Danish study published Monday that could challenge the notion that human emissions are responsible for global warming."

It will all be over in December according to the Mayans.

A quick 10-minute google search does not suggest that this Terrence Aym person has any authoritative standing on the questions of weather, etc.

Magnetic poles move (and always have). Weather changes. That they happen together is correlation, not causation. It could be related, but I'd prefer to see someone who has some credentials in the area(s) make the case.

Does this also mean that the tilt of the earth has changed ?
No, the magnetic poles are not the same as the rotational axes, and the poles move independently of the axis.

Anyone who challenges the beliefs of the Global Warmist establishment will always be trashed on the internet. The Warmists simply do not like anyone disagreeing with their pronouncements. Read the Climategate emails where they were plotting to trash those who dared disagree with their theory. One of the most unreliable sources of all is Wikipedia, which was busted in a revealing article on the CBS News website for allowing a radical Warmist politician from the UK's radical Green Party to censor all Wikipedia material in any way related to the Global Warming theory. So if that is what you have found, I would discount it.

I have never heard of this Terrance Aym, and don't know what his credentials are, but unfotunately I have seen good solid scientists who just happen to disagree with the Warmist establishment trashed badly on Wikipedia and other places. I always take trashing of anyone who might be in their crosshairs with a grain of salt until I can check them out on reliable sources, and that NEVER includes Wikipedia.

Real science is always open to debate. Einstein was never afraid to debate his theory of relativity, for example. Those who refuse to debate reveal by that stance that their agenda is something other than science.

No, I'm happy to hear from people with credible training debate the issue.

Absolutely, and there is plenty of scientific debate on the issue of climate change. But, that doesn't mean anyone with an opinion is worth listening to. If anyone can demonstrate that Aym has *any* credibility on the subject of climate science, I'm happy to hear it.

Wouldn't the shifts in the weight distribution of Earth cause the rotational axis to move ? The recent earthquake in Japan caused a 25 centimeter or 10 inch shift of the axis causing the earth to spin a bit faster thus shortening the day. Other major quakes like the one in Chile have done the same.

When the magnetic poles shift the earths magnatism decreases before a flip. That is occuring now. I have to wonder if this is why fish runs have been increasingly late or geese have shown up in odd places. In nature there have been some very odd behaviour with some species such as sudden fish & bird kills.

Is it true that the strength of the Earth's magnetic field is decreasing? What's the effect? : Scientific American

"It is not easy to predict the effects of the decrease. The Earth's magnetic field extends outward from the Earth forming a shield which focuses cosmic rays towards the magnetic poles and away from other latitudes. In the absence of this magnetic field, or magnetosphere, these cosmic rays would bombard the entire Earth with a higher intensity that today. The effects of cosmic rays on life in general are not known for sure, but it is expected that they would cause tissue damage similar to the effects of x-rays."

The cosmic ray theory heating earth seems somewhat valid as Mar 2012 solar event did cause warming in the upper atmosphere.

Here's the problem, by discrediting the researcher it shows that you are unable to discredit his article or the science within it...It shouldn't matter if he is a World class Scientist or a Homeless Drunk....If his Science is sound, is Science is sound! It's VERY wrong to believe the only people worth listening to are those with an Alphabet soup of letters behind their names....That's been one of the greatest things about the internet, consulting with people who ACTUALLY know things, instead of those that only know what a book tells them or those who's mommy or daddy could afford to donate a library to an ivy league school
