Ovation Guitars to close down in June

The reason given is that sales have fallen off to too low a level. The Connecticut plant will shut down in June of this year. Ovation guitar is owned by Fender Guitar.

That's too bad. I'm not surprised as it's a bit of an odd instrument and hasn't seemed to be very visible the past decade or so (at least) among popular artists. Melissa Etheridge still plays one, though! I didn't know Ovation was owned by Fender, a company that will likely (hopefully) be in business for a long long time to come.

They will still make Ovation but now in China, South Korea, and Indonesia.
