In the northwest hills of CT. When I got up they said it was snowing to the north, south and east of us. Nothing was happeneing here, then all of a sudden in came down big time so all is white. There is no accumulation expected and the recent cold weather is expected to moderate.

No snow, but it's cold in New York, today, too. Too bad, I was really getting into that 70 degree weather.

You do know that you can get snowed in when you want to get back don't you. It happened to me. I had to stay an extra day in NOLA during New Years because New York was snowed in. It nearly killed me having to take in that nice weather , Great food and those alcoholic drinks. Well, it stopped and really didn't amount to much. With bright sunshine and wind, I expect what is on the ground will diminish or disappear soon. January 26 is the record for no measurable snow accumulation in CT and I don't think this will be measurable in Windsor Locks.Comment

We got not snow here in Albany/Saratoga NY area, but they got about a foot up in Blue Mountain Lake area of Adirondacks yesterday. Just supposed to get a few flurries (or snow showers as they seem to want to call them now) up there today. Glad of that as my son just left to drive back to school at Clarkson up in Potsdam.ken H.,Ballston Lake, NY

It's getting cold here, so I'm taking the brass monkey on the deck in tonight.
The snow we got was minimal and mostly gone but it was educational. It is lake effect snow and the wind got it all the way to CT. Because of the warmth a lot of lake effect snow is falling in Buffalo because lake Erie has not frozen over with the warm winter. Lake Erie is a relatively shallow lake and the first of the great lakes that freezes. Ontario, on the other hand goes up to 1,000 ft deep and almost never freezes over, giving moisture all winter for lake effect snow. So while Buffalo gets a lot of lake effect snow, Syracuse (NY) gets more and in fact gets more snow than anywhere in the 50 states.Comment
