Sad not so sweet ending in CT

For 84 years Peter Paul Candy made candy in Naugatuck, CT and now that is coming to an end. If you ever had a Mounds or Almond Joy, it was made there. I fondly remember a class trip there. Hershey acquired the company in 1988 and starting next year the candy will be made in Virginia and the long time Naugatuck plant will close down eliminating over 200 jobs in a town that has a history of losing employers.

The Hershey plant in Oakdale, CA will be shutting down after 40 years of producing all sorts of Hershey candies. 275 employees will be out of work. Production is said to be headed to Mexico.
