  • Moose hit on Merrit Parkway today

There was a warning about it yesterday- guess the driver wasn't tuned in. It's the 4th moose hit in CT this year and I must have missed the one that had previously been hit in Canaan ( a few miles west of my place). I've only seen one in the state and that was about 8 years ago a few miles away.

The moose should be more careful in plotting their summer vacation travel routes. Everyone knows that the speed limit on the Merritt is Con-NINETY-cut.

We were stuck in the traffic from that accident on our way to Stamford. Saw the little Subaru Impreza that hit the moose and it was a mess. Today's paper said the moose was euthanized. And no word on the driver who is seriously injured.

One thing that some people don't understand is that the Moose will generally not move and even if it does, they get little or no traction on road surfaces.

That's a shame. I feel very badly for both the moose, and the driver.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

We had a 16 year old girl hit and kill a Black Bear just outside of town - Cape Girardeau, MO around 10:30 PM, a couple of years ago - only 3 miles from my house. We never did hear much about it after the initial report, makes you wonder what it was doing here in Southeast Missouri. Would like to have a recording when she called up her parents and told them she hit a bear. I am sure at first they thought it was a real wild tale for not being home on time.
