Talk about a dog's personality showing through! What a cutie!

I have my favorite breeds, for those of you who don't know I work with hundreds of different dogs helping out a friend who is a groomer, poodles aren't my fave except for "Sir" who I would leave my husband for in a second. He is a standard and doesn't do the froo-froo cut. He's the exception to the rule.

The poodle attraction is amazing and the poodle crosses are on-going and not attractive, at least to me.

        Labradoodle
        Goldendoodle
        Cockapoo
        Maltipoo
        Shnoodle

the list goes on and on. Non shed being the ultimate goal I guess.

The Beagle was a charmer. Congrats Uno!

We are Weimaraner people so of course I started out rooting for Marge for Best In Show, but the Beagle won my heart - what a personality! Everyone could see that he was truly the best.

We played it back for Dock dog, and she really enjoys it.

But, she's got something wrong with a front paw. It's all red and swollen and she keeps picking at it and licking it.

I feel so bad when stuff like that happens. I've been holding her and trying to look at her paw and comfort her. I have a booboo on my finger, with a bandaid, and when I look at ther paw she licks and picks at my band aid!

Yes, our Taffy too is watching himself in the mirror constantly or watching other animals on TV. I even have a picture of it but where?????

Yes, our little poodle used to love watching TV and her little head would go lopsided and she would bark. You bring back happy memories, JLB.

Beagles are just wonderful dogs and most breeds are, as well as the STRAYS and CATS too!

My beloved Scooter ,who died last year ,was a rescue. He was a field trial show dog (his Mom or Dadwas a Westminster entry at one time) who broke his leg at 9 months. His owner wanted to put him down as he couldn't be a show dog anymore. A fantastic Vet took him, told the owner to get lost and searched for a new family for Scootman. When I got the call, my heart wasn't in it as I had just lost my dear Dixie 3 months earlier. I saw him in the hospital (recovering from the fx. tib/fib) and adopted him.
I didn't rescue him. He rescued me.
I saw so much of him in Uno that in a strange way, I know Scoot's okay.

His plaque at Tufts School of Veterinary Medicine reads:

                Scooter
                November 14, 1993 - May 10, 2007
                The kindest dog
                The sweetest Beagle
                The truest friend
                Returned to God.

Bob Schieffer's remarks on "Face The Nation" This Morning

We always watch the telecast of the Westminster Dog Show, and when Uno the beagle took Best in Show, I cheered out loud. My wife cried tears of joy.

Beagles are the best dogs that ever were. I feel the same way about dogs that I do about food.

I like my food to look like food - the meat in its place on the plate, the vegetables in theirs, not all stacked up like some cutsie piece of art, and please, flowers belong in vases, not on my plate.

As for dogs, I like them to look like dogs, not some perfumed ball of fur that resembles a powder puff. You wouldn't paint a beagle's toe nails or put ribbons in their hair.

We had three beagles - Ralph, whose keen nose found the book satchel stuffed with beer that the boys hid in our garden the night of the first boy-girl party at our house. Old Ralph held his point 'til I removed it.

Then there was Dixie, who gave a light bite to the diplomat from the Chinese embassy who strolled past our house one morning. It was just after Tiananmen Square - clearly a brave act of political protest.

And there was sweet Betty, such a shy little city dog, she didn't like going outside without a leash.

It took a hundred years, but America is a better place when Beagles rule. Good dog, Uno!
