Shouldn't take business from timesharing IMHO. Pod hotels have little pods with a bed and not much more- most are quite small and have no windows. They started in Japan and there are now some in the UK.

Near airports would be good. If someone has a long layover or their flight gets cancelled, then they can rent a pod. They can shower, take a nap, do internet, etc. Not a bad idea, really.
In Japan, the reason they have them is that lots of people have 3 hour commutes each way. If they are entertaining guests for business which is very common for Japanese style business, it is helpful for them to have a place to sleep in Tokyo. That saves them 6 hours of travel time on the trains.

I actually slept in one in Japan and it was a godsend.
I had a layover in Tokyo for 10 hours and if I had to pay a cab (2 ways as I did not want to chance the subway) and a hotel, it would've been been big yen/bucks and a chance at missing my plane.
The "pod" was immaculately clean, > submarine rack-like, low priced, safe and had a women's shower area. A little noisy, but it was right near the airport and a hotel could've been as noisy. I did sleep
I chose this as I was dead tired and did not want to sleep on the airport seats (you could not raise the arms of the chair, so you could not stretch out).
Here's a video of one (not mine). Mine was slightly bigger, but I paid an upcharge. This was many years ago.
Travelistic: Stop 16 - Tokyo (from a capsule hotel))
