A year ago today when the 35W bridge collapsed into the Mississippi River. Thirteen people died; 145 were injured. The news channels have been doing stories of the survivors this week. Some people are still not back to work or on limited time. The bus driver had her story on yesterday, she is not doing well, body still healing.
Today, there will be a couple events remembering those that died, were injured, or did rescue as part of the disaster. The actual time of the collapse was 6:05PM central time.
Since then, the new bridge has the concrete pour complete. In the next few weeks, painting and lighting will be complete.
Original completion date was Dec. 24, 2008 but the bridge now looks to open in mid Sept.
