Thanks for the link! We do check it from time to time, even when we aren't traveling, just to keep informed about things.

Thanks for posting this, I usually check the State Department's site but forget about CDC as a reference.

Hand, foot, and mouth disease in Asia
        Sheesh, does that sound nasty!
        Angela

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

Not to be confused with the dreaded "foot in mouth disease" (which I suffer greatly from).

A reminder for those traveling abroad. Check with your family physician or a travel medicine specialist to see if you need any immunizations before you go. Some immunizations require a series of shots and you need to start getting them several months before departure. Also check to see if your health insurance covers you if you are out of the country. If not, there are companies that will provide you with short-term insurance. You may also want to put together a "travel first aid" kit for minor ailments and emergencies on the road.

                            Great advice from Longtimer.

I used to be the NP at an Occ Health Travel Clinic where our employees went all around the globe. Here are some points:

                            1. Get your immunizations ahead of time when possible. That is, don't wait to get the more "intense" ones like yellow fever, cholera, anti-malairals or typhoid (comes in oral capusles now - over one week) right before going or too bunched up together. You'll be feeling under the weather upon traveling.

                            2. Bring your OTC meds (especially Imodium & Pepto). Just know that some countries may not allow you to bring in some whether they're labeled or not. We used to have this problem in Japan (of all places!) with Pepto, but nothing as of late. Make sure they're in their original packaging as to not appear "suspect".
