Mary Travers of Peter, Paul and Mary dead

Mary Travers, one-third of the popular 1960s folk trio Peter, Paul and Mary who were perhaps best known for their hit "Puff (The Magic Dragon)," died in a Connecticut hospital after battling leukemia for several years. She was 72.

The band's publicist, Heather Lylis, said Travers died Wednesday at Danbury Hospital.

Bandmate Peter Yarrow said that in her final months, Travers handled her declining health with bravery and generosity, showing her love to friends and family "with great dignity and without restraint."

I played their music constantly and still have all the records. I got to see them in concert twice back in the 60's. Rest in peace, Mary. We will miss you.

Sad to lose another favorite! I was really into the folk music back in early sixties and did see the group three times.

I believe it was at the Circle Star in San Carlos CA I went to see them,Kingston Trio and Glenn Yardbrough.

I took my wife to see them few years ago at a winery up in the hills Saratoga Ca in N. Ca. They still put on a great show and their music will never die!

R.I.P. Mary. I love this song and never bought into the urban legend that is was a drug song about marijuana.
