Ok, I'm right in the middle of this. My co-worker 2 cubes down has a son in Falcon's class (the boy who was missing). I am at home now, and I just received a reverse 911 call from the county sheriff's office with a message about keeping a lookout for the missing boy, and a description of him.

Glad to hear he is ok!!!

I was crying as I watched that balloon touched down, praying for that boy's safety . I heard he was found hiding in the attic. I guess he accidentally released the balloon and went into hiding because he was terrified that his parents would kill him. I can't blame him; parental anger is scary for little ones.

"We did this for the show"

Very interesting interview w/ Wolf Blitzer tonight! Falcon was asked in the interview why he didn't come down out of the attic when they were calling his name. His response: "We did this for the show." Out of the mouths of babes...

Afterwards, the dad tried to change the subject, and then got all defensive. Me thinks there is going to be an investigation soon.

Take a look at the clips and decide for yourself:

"We did this for the show"

Whoa. That IS pretty bad. And the way the other two boys turn to watch him while he's answering, then immediately look at the father and then the mother. Like, "Uh-oh, how is Dad going to react to THIS?"

OK, how very sick are these parents? Grrrrrrrr, the entire nation was caught up in this. We were all worried sick, and praying for the safety of this child. Now, it appears that Joe was correct, and this was indeed a hoax.

Maybe I jumped the gun on my conclusion, and should wait for the authorities to finish investigating before I draw any conclusions.....

An emotional Heene family adamantly denied their son's brief disappearance coinciding with a weather balloon floating away from their backyard was a hoax.

Falcon Heene, the 6-year-old who was believed missing, said he was in the balloon, but then he got out to go into the attic and play. After he was found safe, Falcon said on television that the incident was done for a show.

Richard Heene, Falcon's father, told CBS' "The Early Show" Friday, his son was referring to a camera crew that had asked Falcon to reenact him climbing into the attic.

I dunno. It's just a strange, strange story any way you look at it. Thank god the boy is okay, that's the most important thing. Let the police and the air force sort it out with the family.

Amen.. When I heard this story it really hit me.. Just the idea of a toddler being in that situation and the terror. I don't know how a child could have overcome that...

Regardless of the final outcome, I'm so grateful that the child didn't experience that!

It still sounds fishy, but we will just have to wait and see what the investigation turns up.

Personally, I think there is a decent possibility that his older brothers put him up to it. After all, it was one of his brothers that reported seeing Falcon climb into the balloon and take off. I could imagine them saying, "Come on, Falcon, let's do this for the show!" I also found it suspicious that Falcon had snacks up there in the attic with him. If he just ran scared after releasing the balloon, do you think a 6-yo would have the presence of mind to first grab some snacks before running off and climbing into the attic? Having grown up with two older brothers, I know first hand what kind of trouble they can get you in!

Did not hear about the snacks but that does sound rather odd.
Even after listening to the boy make that comment, I could understand how kids say stuff (my son recently told a Mom of one of his friends that I said the kid was a jerk and I NEVER said that....I said my son acts like a jerk when the kid is here sometimes and he totally messed it up! LOL).
