  • Norwegian extradition

The Swedish police were looking for a criminal whom they believed had fled to Norway. So they sent a message to their Norwegian colleagues, demanding he be arrested and extradited back to Sweden to face justice. They included mugshots of the man, taken from the left, the right, and face on.

After a week or so, they followed up with the Oslo police to see how the hunt was progressing. The Oslo police proudly reported that they had arrested the man to the left, and the man in the middle, and they expected to have the man in the middle in custody in a few more days.

OK, I admit. That was a cheap shot. I know the Norwegians are very clever people. After all, after Sir Thomas Crapper invented the modern flush toilet, the Norwegians improved it greatly by adding a seat. Of course, it was the Swedes who immediately realized the seat would work better if it had a hole in it.

“This is a blouse and skirt. I don't know what you're talking about.”

    “You shouldn't wear that body.”

Hey Steve. I'm Norwegian and I resemble, I mean resent, that story.

When you going to answer my last email? Do you want me to resend it with easier to understand words?

I got to hang out with World Idol Kurt Nilsen and his band, manager & posse and they were fantastic human beings. Funny, warm, smart...and boy can Kurt sing! So stop picking on Norway. Stick with the American South!

Carol - please allow me a bit of slack here. I come from a culture whose greatest contribution to world cuisine is Swedish meatballs. But the members of that culture don't realize even that; they think their greatest contribution is pickled herring!

This is the culture that believes that Max van Sydow and Liv Ullman would have been much more popular if they had better controlled their impulses to overact, and that being directed by that crazy and wild man Ingmar Bergman didn't help matters.

When that is your background, you take your humor wherever you can find it. And, as dense as we are, we still have enough sense to realize that lutefisk is not something to get excited about.

Is your native land the country responsible for haggis?

Btw, I like Max, Liv and Ingmar...I even did an indie study in Swedish film, as I was a film major in college. I could probably recite the script to "The Seventh Seal" in Swedish, I've seen it so many times! Btw, have you seen the short spoof film, "Da Duva"? Hilarious!

Och nae Carol, even I - a 3rd generation Scot know that only a bonnie Scots man or woman would celebrate Haggis as a gourmet treat!!. never tasted the stuff myself, but have enjoyed skirling-in-the-pan when my Da would make it in the cold mornings.

MY FIL says the greatest Swedish contribution to world cuisine is surströmming.
You ask what is that. It a fermented herring product, which is canned then burried in the ground. here is a quote from a swedish food website about it
A speciality of northen Sweden, surströmming, is for sale from the third Thursday in August. To serve surströmming the proper way: · Tie a napkin around the can · Place it on the table · Then carefully open the can · A strong odor will at once reach your nostrils and fill the room
"Beginners" often need some time to get used to the unique smell of surströmming, some even go so far as to call it a stench. You serve surströmming with potatoes, sourcream, onoin and white crispbread.

I think I'd go with the Swedish Meatballs....Dead, buried fish, with a stench, is sounding so good.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I spent a summer in Sweden as a student and was served this delicacy. The memory haunts me still!

I do make Swedish pancakes, and generally get rave reviews for them. I have relatives who grew up with Swedish pancakes who won't eat anything but mine.

Steve, with a post like that, you know you're going to have to post the recipe in the Recipes forum don't you?!

We love Swedish meatballs. You know, the kind from Ikea?
