The irate customer calling the newspaper office loudly demanded to know where her Sunday edition was.

Ma'am, said the employee, today is Saturday.
The Sunday paper is not delivered until Sunday.

There was quite a pause on the other end of the phone, followed by a ray of recognition.

'I'll bet that's why no one was in church today too.'

This would be funny if it wasn't so true. Instead it is sad. About three weeks ago, on a Sunday morning I went out to pick up our paper from the rocks (think desert lawn) like I always do. The paper has been getting thinner and thinner as less and less companies advertise, but this week's was really light. I couldn't believe it! Good thing for me I turned it over to look at the headlines before I got to the door and told Jerry how thin it was. When I turned the paper over the masthead said Saturday. Duh...that's why it was so thin.

I'm retired, and sometimes its hard to remember what day it is if I'm not looking at my daybook or the computer's taskbar...
