A man answered a newspaper ad for a "Captain of a Ship" job. When he arrived for the interview, the person conducting the interview noticed that the man had a peg leg, a hook for a hand and a missing eye.
During the interview the interviewer asked the applicant what happened to his leg. The man said that he had been attacked by a shark and had to have his leg amputated. With regrets offered, the interviewer then asked what happened to his hand. The applicant answered that he had been in a sword fight and lost his hand. With regrets again offered he finally asked what happened to the applicant's eye. The reply was that on a sunny day on his last ship he stood on deck, looked up to the sky and a sea gull flew over. The intervierer asked if the seagull plucked out his eye. The applicant replied, "oh no. That was the first day that I wore my hook".
