  • Seems as though an old joke, but...

An Indian walks into a cafe with a shotgun
in one hand, pulling a male buffalo with the other.
    He says to the waiter:

    "Want coffee."

The waiter says, "Sure, Chief.. Coming right up."

He gets the Indian a tall mug of coffee.
The Indian drinks the coffee down in one gulp,
Turns and blasts the buffalo with the shotgun,
Causing parts of the animal to splatter everywhere
    And then just walks out.

The next morning the Indian returns.
He has his shotgun in one hand, pulling another male buffalo with the other.
He walks up to the counter and says to the waiter

    "Want coffee."

    The waiter says "Whoa, Tonto!

We're still cleaning up your mess from yesterday.

What was all that about, anyway?"

The Indian smiles and proudly says ..

"Training for position in United States Congress:

    Come in, drink coffee,
    shoot the bull,
leave mess for others to clean up,
    disappear for rest of day."

Thanks! Gave me a laugh. BTW - How'd you make out in Ida? Heard your area got hit pretty hard. Hoping everything's OK!

There is widespread damage from flooding and downed trees. Power outages are still going in many areas.

On our street, one hugh oak broke a pole and took down the wires. The street was blocked for 2 days... not bad.

It is impossible to know how many trees have the rootball torn loose.
The nicest tree (over 80' tall saw-tooth oak) in our front yard is down. Its roots on edge now stand at least 8' up in the air. The winds and rain had stripped the leaves from most trees but not that one... it held all its leaves (a lot of wind resistance).

That tree now lays across the drive, with the top causing damage to the neighbors house. Their telephone and cablevision wires got tore down.

We took frozen goods to neighbor (with power) one street over.

Dominion Power had the street-blockage-tree removed and a new pole installed. Power was restored to us about 48 hours after we lost it.

We now are getting the roof re-shingled. Many leaks.

But hey! We survived without electricity. No TV or Computer for 48 hours... A big relief, really.

Hurricane winds and rains keep us humble.

So sorry to hear about all the damage, but glad you're safe. Wish I was closer, I'd come down and give you a hug. So here's the best that I can do... Hopefully things will get back to normal soon.
