It's that time of year again. Plentiful berries. Shoprite has a flat of 6 pints for $7 this week so....

    Preheat oven to 350

    Mix together:

    1/4 cup butter ( softened )
    1 egg
    1/2 cup milk
    1 cup sugar

    Mix together:

    2 cup flour
    2 TSP Baking Powder
    1/2 TSP salt

    combine.

add in 2 cups of berries ( I used strawberries this week but any will work ) large berries should be chopped

in a separate bowl combine for topping:
    1/4 cup butter ( softened )
    1/3 cup sugar
    1/2 cup flour
    1/2 tsp cinnamon

Pour batter into heavily greased 8x8 cake pan.
    sprinkle on topping
Bake from 40 to 60 minutes ( depending on how juicy the berries are )
check center with wooden toothpick for doneness.

Sounds good-reminds of blueberry buckle that was baby food dessert. I think I'll have a fresh blueberry and nut muffin now.

That sounds goooood, I will have to try that recipe

Every year I pick a small bucket of blackberries and make blackberry shortcake.
What I once considered boring, I now consider paradise.
