I make that dish, too....I also use ricotta cheese in mine, tho. I sometimes make that dish on Easter Saturday, along with spaghetti pie.

I also make the Easter Pie.

Amanda, are you Italian? I only ask because your menu is very similar to what I normally make on Easter/holidays.

My mom is adopted and learned to cook from her best friend's mom who was Italian.. her adoptive parents were German.. & my dad is Belgian (eek)

My husband is also Italian.. so these are the things we both grew up eating for Easter, and since I only really make them once a year, it doesn't get old but I do like adding / trying new things too...

What kind of pita are you making, spinach or cheese? love the spinach. I just picked up the feta and filo to make some. I use to make the filo from scratch but I don't have the energy to do it any more.

We always put a dime in the pita for New Years for good luck. When we were kids my mom use to put two of them somehow each of us kids ended up finding it.

I am making the cheese (Tiro). I also make the spinach, but won;t be doing it this year.

          That would explain it.

BTW, I was in Belgium for the first time a couple of years ago, and really enjoyed some of the food. I still dream of the various waffles....One of my all time favorite foods.

Excellent food I agree! Actually, my husband and I went out to a Belgian bar in the city last night for dinner, and had moules frites -- so delicious! Among all of the other treats on the menu... hmm I wonder if there is a place around here to get an authentic Belgian waffle.. that would be fun!!

Good question......I don't have any personal recommendations, but a place called "Markt. Located at 676 6th Ave. at 21st St.," seems to have some fantastic reviews.....The "Gaufre Aux Fruits Frais Wafel Met Vers Fruit" (which is a homemade Belgian waffle with assorted fruit and topped with whipped cream) for only $10 seems to be a huge hit.

                          Keeping it simple over here:

                          Some kind of appetizers (??)

                          Filet mignon (BBQ'd)
                          Roasted veggies
                          Green salad

Angel food cake with fresh strawberries and raspberries

That's the plan for now anyway
