  • Precooked Bacon?

I was wondering how it is. I have it on order with Omaha but I am thinking of canceling it. I was in BJ's yesterday and I saw it there for almost half the price plus you get more. I did not buy it because it did not look that good. Is it worth buying it precooked and does it taste as good. Also my wife and kid do not like there bacon crisp. They like it Medium to almost raw, Is the precooked crisp?

I have never really liked pre-cooked bacon, but I can't remember why...I actually think because it was a bit too crumbly. I have only tried the kind in the grocery store though....

We like the Hormel precooked bacon. I buy it at SAM'S Club. I always look at all the packages and get the ones that look like they have more meat on the bacon and are thicker.

My husband says he does 5 seconds per slice, but I generally cook 5-6 slices for 20 seconds in the microwave as I do not like it too crisp either.

It is great to have on hand. When I am watching carbs, I eat several slices with a scrambled egg for breakfast.

The whole idea of pre-cooked bacon just scares me.

Take a few slices of Oscar Meyer, put them on 2 paper towels on top of a plate and 3 minutes later crispy yummy.

So where exactly is the benefit to this pre-cooked stuff?

I was unsure if I should cancel the Precooked Bacon on my Omaha order. After thinking about it I was going to cancel it as I rather have it fresh, So I ended up calling to cancel and I got a great rep at Omaha Steaks. She assured me that there precooked bacon was great and was no comparison to what I saw at BJ's. When I saw it at BJ's it was not even in the refrigerator isle, It was on a shelf and it looked bad. She then found a code that got me 100 slices for $20 which is half price. I was paying $13 for 50 slices and that was a sale price. So from canceling the Precooked bacon I ended up doubling what I as getting in the first place. We will try it next weekend as I am set to receive the order on Friday.

                Frank,

Be sure to give us your opinion after you have tried the bacon.

My kids like bacon and eggs, but I hate cooking bacon because of the incredible mess it makes.

I'm thinking that pre-cooked may have already gotten rid of most of the fat. Hopefully, that will cut down on the splattering and the mess.....

I have never tried pre-cooked bacon, and will give it a try if you are satisfied with it.

Angela if you are placing another order with Omaha and want to give it a try here is the code below to get the price I got below. This IMO is a good deal. Like you said there is no mess and most of the fat is gone. one thing I liked, that the rep told me was that there's is frozen after it is cooked, it is not refrigerated or just thrown on the shelf.

Our reliable Sunbeam Grillmaster BBQ grill is on/in our screen room, just beyond the sliders. It has a side burner. That's where stuff like bacon gets cooked.

                      Anyone else hungry.

We use a Presto Bacon Wave when we cook bacon. It is a pan with two tent-like plastic pieces sitting in it. You drape the bacon over the plastic tents and microwave. All the grease goes to the bottom and off your bacon as the bacon is not touching the bottom of the pan. Throw in the dishwasher and voila!!! We like them so much that I've order 2 and 3 at a time and we take them with us to timeshares. (They cost $19). Linda

                          Bacon

I tried some pre-cooked bacon Friday....don't know what kind it was but it looked like bacon, smelled like bacon, but tasted like day old bacon warmed up. Please let us know what your opinion is when you try it.

Too much like artificial food. I only eat nitrite free bacon anyway they say the nitrites cause pancreatic cancer. There is a bacon at Trader Joes from Niman ranch that is good organic and Nitrite free and they also have a Trader Joe brand that is nitrite free (But it isnt organic).
Saw my father in law with Pancreatic Cancer I dont want it.

                              Barbeque,
Does that taste like bacon or does it have a slightly different taste to it?
