My son started his new hobby and has me hooked on it. We still have not flown yet , but we just got our Drones. I was bidding on a few DJi Phantom 2 V1's and I ended up winning 5 Auctions. :ech: I put 3 up for auction

I bought a tiny one to learn on. All I did was crash. My son did a bit better, but still could not get it to hover indoor.

Yes and no. It is not a toy, But i hear it is easy to fly. It is too expensive to start with. I bought it cause of the features, It has a 25 minute flight with a distance of 1,000 meters. Mine are also less expensive cause there is no Camera yet. You need to buy a Gimbol and a camera of your choosing. The Phantom is more of a pro model, Most people would set it up with a GoPro Camera, The GoPro camera is the tiny Camera that you may have seen on people's helmets when they
ski or bike riders. Billy has a Gopro Camera that he posted pictures here with.

Where did you end up winning 5 auctions? On Ebay?

I have seen them flying when I went to Hawaii, and at Floyd Bennett in Brooklyn. They are all the rage. If I had more spare time I would definitely get into this.

There are 4 models I would say are good to learn on. I am only posting the links, The Syma and the Hudson you can get cheaper elsewhere. The other 2 are cheap here cause they are refurbished. Let me know which one you want and I will look around ebay for you. You do not want to buy from China cause it can take a month to get. If you can wait Bidding on ebay and including China is cheap. If you want get 2 1 from china and one from the US so you get it quicker.

If you use a DJI Phantom 2 or soon to be released 3 and not have any camera on it then I would bet yes. The Dji Phantom 1 is a slight bit smaller and uses 8 inch props. The 2 and 3 uses 9 inch props and stronger motors. Now it can carry it out there, But you will need to figure out how to release the line. BTW it can not real in the fish.
Now you can buy a 1 and replace the motors to something with more power so you can use a 9 inch prop.

Btw, look at what is rated #1, #3 maybe a good start and I think that may have been on my list I had sent you. A newer one is the Syma xc-5 that should have been on the list
