  • Besides whole chickens what can you cook on a rotisserie?

    FINALLY.

When we had all the work done on the house I had an outside electric outlet placed near my dependable old Weber Genesis. Today I bought the rotisserie that I have been craving for years

We eat a LOT of chicken here. Probably 4 days out of 7 and I'm happy knowing I can make my own rotisserie ones for about half the market prices.

    But

What else comes out great on a gas grill rotisserie ( non-basket type)?

Please share your successful recipes with me so I can use my new toy!

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

don't know about duck....i think it would taste good, but might really make a mess. i think a boneless leg of lamb would be delicious......i love lamb on the grill........normally, i butterfly it. if i had a rotisserie, i would definitely give it a try..........

You can cook prime rib on a rotisserie?
My usual recipe is salt crusted.
                Hmmmmm.

Yeah Angela I'm thinking duck might be flare up city. I think I'll skip that and go for roast beef and leg of lamb.

                  Lawren,

Haven't you ever watched Ron Popeil cook a prime rib on his rotisserie machine? Fortunately, I have not YET bought one of them. I love those infocommercials.

Reminds me of a story my husband loves to tell. His family decided to rotisserie a solid piece of bologna for a gathering of family friends. Once it was cut up and served, the guests wondered why they were getting bologna sandwiches. My in-laws have some strange ideas about food. I wouldn't recommend serving guests bologna. But it is really just a big hot dog!

I've done a Bone-in leg of lamb and it was great, but the next time I will cover the smaller shank end with foil to protect it. I was able to push the skewer rod right along the bone with no problem.

Lawren, I don't have suggestions other than the great ones already given but I will pass along a (now funny) story of one of my first rotisserie experences.
Many years ago my wife and I were living in a small duplex, our first abode with a yard (even if it was very small). We had just got this charcoal grill with a rotisserie and I had got the charcoal going and set up a chickn on the rotisserie and it was cooking when our friends arrived. My wife was showing them around and suddenly looked out the window and yelled to me that the chicken was smoking. I went out and found that one end of the rotisserie had fallen in and the chicken was on the coals. I picked up the rotisserie by the other end and lifted it up and off the rack and when I did a live coal must have stuck to the chicken and fell on the ground. I was not wearing shoes or socks so you can probably guess where this is going. Yes I stepped on the coal and it stuck to my foot not feeling very good. I proceeded to dance around with the chicken on the stick looking, as my wife puts it, like some sort of voodoo guy while my wife and friends watched from the kitchen window. Anyway, it has turned in to a funny story that we no tell from time to time. Morale is keep a close eye on your rotisserie.

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody.

I did an oven stuffer last night and it came out better than the store ones!

I can't wait to try all the other suggestions. I almost feel like taking my grill with me on vacation....

What type of spices and rubs do you all use on your rotisserie creations? I used Mrs Dash Garlic & Herb yesterday.
