    Raspberry Tequila Sangria

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The addition of Tequila & Triple Sec make this Sangria a little unique. It's a big hit at parties..........

    Raspberry Tequila Sangria

Sangria is a traditional Spanish drink that combines wine and fresh fruit. This Mexican-style sangria has a higher alcohol content than most sangrias (great for pairing with spicy foods) and is as much a margarita as it is a sangria. Always use a tasty wine when making sangria as it will be the most prominent flavor.

    INGREDIENTS:
1 bottle White Wine, preferably Spanish, Sauvignon Blanc or Pinot Gris
    1 cup silver Tequila
    1/2 cup Triple Sec
    1/4 cup fresh Lime Juice
    1/4 cup Sugar
2 pints fresh Raspberries or 10 ounce frozen package (thawed) Fresh is better!
24 ounces (2 cans) Ginger Ale
    ice
    Lime wedges, for garnish

    PREPARATION:
Place raspberries in a small bowl and mash with a wooden spoon, or slice into thinly. Add the white wine, tequila, triple sec, and lime juice to a large glass pitcher. Stir in the sugar and continue stirring until completely dissolved.
    Stir in the raspberries.
Cover pitcher with plastic wrap and refrigerate for several hours or overnight.

Just before serving, stir in the ginger ale and top off with ice.

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

I got this from Max's Kansas City in NYC back in the late 70s.

    Pina Coladas

    1 Cup Light Rum
    1 Cup Pineapple Juice
    1 Cup Cream of Cocoanut
    Juice of 2 limes

Throw everything in the blender and fill with ice. WHRRRRRRRRRRR. SLURP!

Try it with and without the lime. I prefer with DH prefers without.

OH and you can make it with vodka instead but technically that is a Chi-Chi Colada

      Steve's favorite beer.

One bottle Hale's Pale Ale, chilled
      One bottle opener.

Grab bottle top with bottle opener and pry up to remove cap from bottle.
Drink beer straight from bottle, or, if preferred, pour into chilled beer glass or stein.

      Notes:
      • Other ales may be substituted for the Hale's, though the quality of the drink will vary with the substitute selected.
      • Do not use canned beer instead of bottled beer.

This concoction pairs well with a variety of foods, ranging from simple chips and salsa to fine barbecues to the spiciest Asian foods.

What is cream of coconut? Is this something you can buy at a liquor store?

I would love to make your pina coladas. Yummy. My mom-in-law would really love them. Would any blender work to make that drink kinda slushy? Or do you use a special blender.

Here is the Mai Tai recipe on my magnet, though I have not tried it yet:

        1 oz. light rum
1/2 oz triple sec (what the heck is that?)
        1/4 oz. lime juice
        1 1/2 oz. pineapple juice
        1 1/2 oz. orange juice
        dash grenadine
        1/2 oz. dark rum

Shake all but the dark rum with cracked ice. Strain into old-fashioned glass. Top with dark rum.

Sounds pretty good, but I have not had a mai tai since we got back from Hawaii on July 21st. I miss those delicious flavors.

          Steve,

I know you will know. What is the perfect/correct tempature to chill one's beer for maximum pleasurable taste?

I think this thread has degenerated from what it was "supposed" to be.

That said, I'm with Steve. Just give me a bottle and a bottle opener (or screw off top) and I'm happy. That's all the prep I want to do.

Cream of Coconut is canned and may be purchased at your local supermarket. The brands we can buy here are Coco Lopez and Goya. I'm sure there are others. Just be aware that with my measurements one can of Cream of Coconut will NOT be enough for 2 batches.

Any blender should do. Just be sure to PACK it to the rim with ice and run the blender until thoroughly blended.

No, but if you're a serious beer drinker you need to know these things.

I'm not serious enough in my beer drinking.

Have you been to those pubs in England where they have little signs showing...some number? the specific gravity? (It's not the temperature.) Each tap has a separate little sign. Then sometimes they have a separate sign showing the ideal drinking temperature for each beer. Some of the dark beers are served just barely below room temperature.
