  • Indochine may be my new fave in NYC

It's been a staple downtown forever, former Warhol hangout, etc... but we've eaten there several times in the last few months and everything has been fantastic. Food is french/vietnamese. Strong vietnamese influence, very fine food. Beautiful staff.... One of my favorite NYC evenings is to get tix to whatever is playing at the Public Theatre across the street and eat at Indochine first.

Last night we ate and then saw Ed Harris in Wrecks. It was a one-man, one-act play, extremely well done (but HEAVY). I was home by 10:15, it was great!!!

eta: for NYC visitors, an Indochine/Public Theatre evening would be a great finish to a day exploring downtown/Greenwich Village. Joe's Pub is also across the street, they get some very good musical acts...

Thanks Avery, good to know, for when I'm in that area. I will definitely keep it in mind........

If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

It is definitely not traditional Vietnamese food.

        This time, we ate:

appetizers:a) steamed Vietnamese 'ravioli' with chicken and vegetables, served over bean sprouts. b) summer spring rolls w/crab and vegetables (these were served and cut like fat sushi rolls)

entrees: a) sliced filet mignon, delicious, though not as amazing as my
        b) rare tuna served over japanese eggplant

sides: angel hair noodles w/peanut sauce and sauteed greens

dessert: I don't remember what they were called but they were crispy dessert wontons filled with warm spiced apple stuff and served with a variety of fruit dipping sauces and ice cream,,, yummmmm

Sorry these aren't the menu 'copywritten' descriptions, and what makes the food so great are the uniques herbs and sauces...
