Yes.......I wasn't thinking of prunes, tho. I was just confused as to exactly what a 'date' was.......... I kept thinking fig, for some reason. I googled 'date'.......

Dates are the fruit of the date Palm, Phoenix dactylifera which belongs to the family Areaceae,. Dactylifera is Greek word for ‘finger-bearing’. The English word date derives from the Greek ‘dactylus’ and Hebrew ‘dachel’ which both mean finger. The fruit is a ‘drupe’ with a single seed in each. They are borne on clusters often weighing 10 kg or more. They contain several minerals including potassium, phosphorus, calcium and magnesium, vitamins such as riboflavin, thiamine, folic and ascorbic acid, fats and easily digested sugars (glucose, sucrose and fructose).

      I also found this recipe.......

I need to look up my spinach dip recipe and another one I do is to make quiche(s) and cut it into small pieces. I tend to cheat and use frozen pastry shells or frozen puff pastry. If you want to be fancy, you can buy the tart shells.

          Mary,

A good quiche recipe is always great to have. Please, do share yours with us.

I agree with you on the frozen pastry shell. That's definitely the way to go, unless you're really good with dough....

There is a good one I have had at the last two appetizer parties I attended. You use English Muffin halves as the base. You take a can of chunk crab meat, drained, a jar of Old English cheese ? (gee suddenly can't remember the name), one and a half tablesppons mayonaisse and some garlic salt and you mix it togethr, put on English muffin halves, cut each half into 4's and put under broiler.

Trader Joes has three layer hummus dip. It has nice color and the layers are pesto, chili, and regular. It gets eaten fast at my parties.

              Hope

I just had this at a pot luck and it doesn't sound good but it was great:

Take 1 piece of the shaved pastrami, and spread with a thin layer of cream cheese. Wrap around a midget dill pickles and slice in to 1/4-1/4 inch slices.

Yes, I have had something similar to this in the past, and it was very good. Thanks.

This sounds so different, that I am going to give it a try. I will report back, with how it turned out. Thanks.
