If you change the way you look at things, the things you look at change.

BTW, I'm still keeping track of how many times you annoy me.

      A couple restaurant.com strategies

OK, the 60% "SUPER" isn't any good anymore, but here's what you do to get ready for the next one that'll come out later in the month when all your favorite restaurants are out of stock.

Next time you see the 50-60-70% off buy a gift certificate, then early on the first of the following month buy all the certificates you wanted at your favorite restaurants.

Here's another thing, when you shop with your gift certificate (which is designed to be used as a gift) you have money to 'spend' for the final price of the certificate not the purchase price... so when you have a gift certificate for $25 that you paid $3 for at 70% off of $10, you can go 'buy' any $25 certificate. Well, one of my favorite restaurants is an odd $12.50 for a $25 cert but when you go about it this way you end up paying $3 and that works out to 76% off of the price of that cert!*

*for those people that won't buy from VIN because some little old lady paid TR to take their TS, you may not want to do this.

Too funny! It pays to read the small print around here.

I almost missed it, and when I noticed it I, too, almost responded, but noticed you got to it before me, Lawren.

okay - I'm confused. Are there "gift certificates" you can purchase on restaurant.com that can be used to purchase a new gift certificate for any restaurant at restaurant.com? If so, where do you find these on the site?

Okay, now I know why I have a Ph.D. - so that I can spend way too much time trying to figure out how to find really obvious things on websites. I couldn't find it last night, but those "gift" gift certificates are really easy to find... Thanks, Spence. I never thought of doing that before. (Though I still have many gift certificates I bought a long time ago and still haven't used, so won't have to worry about using this for a while. Good thing I live in CA, where the certificates never expire.)

BF, do you know, is it $10 cert for every cert ordered or is it a $10 cert for every total order?

You will only be able to use them on Certificates that have a face value of $10, these are ones that regularly sell for $3 and would have been $1.50 at 50%off. So you got a $1.50 value. The $10 certs are usually good for lunch at restaurants that offer them.
