  • Does anyone have a spaetzle recipe to share?

When I was in Germany a few years back, I ordered whatever had spaetzle listed as a side dish. I just love the stuff!

We go to a German restaurant not too far from our house and their spaetzle is just OK. So I just ordered a tool to make my own spaetzle from Amazon and I'm looking for recipes. I'm sure the tool comes with at least one recipe, but I'm willing to try others.

    Thanks in advance.

Love to see some recipes too

Hello! I love spatzel when I find it that is done right. Basically though I love it when I can have it soak up the sauce or gravey that is on my German dish.

Also does anyone have any good Hungarian Goulash recipes?

    Thanks!

I did a search on google. All recipes seem to be pretty similar except with or without milk and with or without nutmeg.

Well, I got my spaetzle maker from Amazon and it works incredibly well. It came with 2 recipes. I used the one with milk and nutmeg and it was great!

          Amazon Spatzel Maker

Hello! Was the spatzel maker expensive? Was it easy to use?

          Thanks!

VERY easy to use. I think it was all of $7.95. A good investment for a spaetzle lover.

I just couldn't believe that it would work at all and it was a snap!

Whew, Lauren, I'm glad you asked, cause I don't know what it is either. In fact I have a funny pan I bought off of QVC years ago and don't know why or what it's for. It might be a thing to make this stuff with shaggy

Spaetlze are small noodles that you cook in water like pasta but you can do several different things with them. We ate in a German restaurant a couple of weeks ago in St Maarten and they served them soft with gravy. They can also be fried in butter with ham or bacon if desired. One of the best spaetzle dishes I ever had was in Radium Hot Springs BC. They were baked with ham and some kind of white cheese but I don't know what kind. Maybe a German cheese? It was a meal size dish something like mac and cheese only better.

Lynn is correct. The ones we had in Germany were small cylinder shaped, but the spaetzles my new device makes are more ball shaped. Just as delicious. The basic recipe is kind of like egg noodles.
