  • Deer Valley visit

We had a week in Park City in March & got invited to the Fireside Dining up at Empire Canyon Lodge (Fireside Dining)

It was REALLY nice & of course the setting was amazing. Little on the pricey side...kids were $24 regardless of what they ate + $48 for adults...but worth it.

To top it all off, the 24-hour dusting of snow started just as the outside lights were turned on. My wife had tears in her eyes!!!

That sounds like a really special evening. We haven't made it over there for dinner yet, maybe we'll try it next year. Thanks for posting.

Did you ski Deer Valley? My SO went over one day, he said it was overrun with kids. Granted, we were there over President's week, but there were a LOT more kids there than at Park City or the Canyons... I was surprised to hear it, since Deer Valley is supposedly so 'exclusive,' and limits their lift tickets, etc...

G - We did ski Deer Valley, mostly because friends have Season + Buddy passes. But we started off skiing the Canyons for lessons, etc. and everyone was raving about Deer having the best snow. This was down to their heavy snow-making + constant grooming.

That said, it was overrun too. Being bigger than average & NOT a confident skier, I try to avoid traffic. But it was so busy, it took me 10 mins to get down runs, taking out a few overtakers along the way!! oops!

Wow, so it's not just President's Week. I am surprised, but happy that I won't have the kids and their father at separate mountains anymore (kids are boarders, not allowed at DV, fine by me)
