If you're in Texas all you have to do is order "tea" to get iced tea. Rarely would a wait person ask if you want "hot tea". If you want "hot tea" you have to order it that way.

Here in the South you need to say sweet or unsweet tea.

DH ordered iced coffee at a restaurant and the server had never heard of it. It was a funny coversation that our friend will never forget or let us forget. Finally, DH said bring me a cup of coffee and a glass of ice........

You know what's weird is that many people now think that iced coffee means something like a Frappuchino--a sweet, thickish drink with evaporated (or is it condensed?) milk and coffee flavoring and lots of sugar. Whereas in NYC it's always just strong cold coffee and ice and you add milk and sugar the way you like, just like you would if you ordered a cup of hot coffee.
