Hobbies

Horseback riding and horse shows and just spending time with horses

Cooking ( but not so much baking) and also eating my cooking.

80s Music, I specialize in punk, listening to a rare 1976 live recording of the Sex Pistols this morning as I add resorts to the database. I've been spending the last few days running my compilations thru the computer to construct some shows for this site : www.flashbackalternatives.com

Reading if I'm not "here" or doing my music things then I am reading a novel.

It's not the weekend without the Sunday NYTimes Crossword puzzle.

I also like to embroider but don't have much time for that now a days.

You can almost chart my hobby evolution by the stressful jobs. The last thorn in my side left the company so my stress level is near an all-time low!

Gardening is a big one, really gets the mind off the job. I can't do without homegrown tomatoes

Doggie sports (my border collie loves agility!!)

computer games (love the Tycoon series!)

cooking (finally got a bread maker for Christmas and joined Costco)

working out (currently considering whether to compete in Masters Swimming or give triathalons a whirl)

road trips that can include the princess pooch

Gardening occupied a large part of my non working hours. Nothing like eating home grown organic produce, tomatoes especially.

Wine tasting - an aim to the affordable house red or white paramount, if you want hints of chocolate and raspberries then I will avoid you like the plague. This seems to be something constantly needing to be revised with frequent tastings.

Reading - I chew through books, the result of speed reading classes many years ago. An average week would be 3-4, mostly who done it or murder mysteries now.

Most favorite is planning and going on trips. Learning how to use timeshares.
Photography - never ending learning process. When I go someplace it makes me look at things from different points-color, lighting, etc and then sometimes just so I can remember.
My roses and flowers-this spring will be a big job because now I have a golden lab.
My family-whether its doing glass art with my boyfriend's mother, sitting in the pool with my grandchildren and the dog, or teaching my daughter how to make puff quilts.
Besides the time I spend at work, my whole life is my hobby.

I've long been intrigued by the concept of speed reading, but you are first person I have come across who actually does it.
Do you get as much enjoyment from reading now as you did when you read conventionally? I tend to be thinking about the book content for a few days after reading it. If the book is being 'replaced' every other day I wonder if I would get as much from it.
