If you have a favorite, easy way to prepare them, please let me know. I can't find my tried and true, have forgotten how I used to do them, and am finding conflicting recipes on the net. No weird or hot spices, please, I like them sweet... I think I used to coat them with sugar and drizzle them with melted butter...

I used this one last year with great success. They have a coating on them; you can see what I mean by the picture
I went through pounds of nuts...Made 4 or 6 batches of them. I added every kind of nut I had in the house. except the human kind...Gave most away, but they were so good. We ate way to many though.

Not exactly what you are asking for but these are wonderful.
Spiced Nuts:
Mix all together:
1 c sugar
2/3 c water
3/4 t salt
1 t vanilla
1 t cinnamon
Simmer in an iron skillet until the syrup forms a thin thread. Stir in nuts and turn out on a buttered plate and seperate gently.

Try this one....
1 c sugar
1/4 evaporated milk
2 tbsp BOURBON
2 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp vanilla
1-1/2 tbsp butter
2 c pecans
Mix sugar, milk and bourbon in saucepan stirring constantly until mixture reaches soft ball stage (234 degrees). Remove from fire, add cinnamon, butter and vanilla. Stir in the nuts. Keep stirring until glaze forms. Pour out on waxpaper and separate nuts. Allow to dry before storing in a container.

I think you should make several batches of each and mail samplings to each G

Ok, thanks for your ideas. Hophop (love the name, btw), no bourbon or evaporated milk around. And Jericap, those look good, but not quite what I'm looking for. Joy, yours also sound good, but I was bent on baking them...
I opted for a variation on this, but no allspice, less cinnamon (I don't like cinnamon), and since the eggwhite didn't seem to stretch far enough I added some melted butter (solved that dilemma):

I'll let you know how they turn out...
eta: they look weird so far... now on to bastardizing a sweet potato casserole.
