Fantasy Football for 2010?

Wow, there's a lot to think about there. Is all the administration automatically done by CBS Sports? Looks like some extra work for the commissioner if they don't.

No, I don't think it is, that's why we need to think about it now....

If they let you assign players to teams before the draft, then it's easier. If not, maybe the commish can start the draft and do the first two rounds himself, assigning the proper players, then suspend the draft until everyone is ready to begin for real.

Draft - We offer every way to draft your league. Our state-of-the-art draft room allows you to have owners, each from their own location, come and participate in a live draft. You can set the draft order randomly or set a pre-determined order. It can even be a custom order for each round. You decide the number of rounds. It can be a "snaking" or "non-snaking" draft. If nobody has the time to do a live draft, you can each rank your players and have the draft room run an automated draft according to each owner's rankings. If you are all getting together for a draft in person, the commissioner can enter each owners pick as the draft moves on. Or, you can hold your draft offline and just enter the results when your draft is finished.

The draft order has not been set yet but the draft date will be September 6th at 6:00 PM Central time.

I have been looking at the CBS website and the possible ways to implement a keeper league and most of the record keeping would fall on the commissioner to do it manually. So here is what I purpose we do to keep it smiple.

1. Keeper no players, keep 1 player, or keep 2 players
2. If you keep 1 player you forfeit your 1st round draft pick
3. If you keep 2 players you forfeit your 1st and 2nd round draft picks
4. If you keep 2 players they can't be at the same position

Thoughts????

That means if you don't have anyone worth protecting and everyone else protects two, you get the first two picks in the draft. If future drafts are not random but are in reverse order of finish, that team would probably also have the third pick (the first pick in the third round) if they were that bad that no players could be protected.

If the software supports it, my suggestion would be to declare your protected players the day before the draft. Assign those players to the teams and start round 1. Any team that does not protect 2 can have an extra pick at the end. Unless all of your players retire in the same year, there will always be a player that is better than an extra pick at the end that can be protected. I think owners are more likely to drop everyone if it leads to extra first and second round picks.

Mike the keeper league will start next year not this year. We are talking about it now so people can plan for their team after this year.

We aren't keeping players this year Mike, just trying to get the rules set for what we do next year.

We can change the time to 7 CST which would be 8 EST if there are no objections.

For those that don't keep any player they won't get extra 1st and 2rd picks they will draft 16 players to have the same number of players all teams will have. To my thinking the people that are keeping top tier players will forfeit their picks in the 1st and 2rd. Lets say I keep Aaron Rodgers and Chris Johnson I would have no picks in the fist 2 rounds. Last year we voted to do a random draft.

Everyone will have to declare if they are going to keep players and who they are before a draft order will be set. If you do or don't declare players it will be done in a secret fashion not sure how just yet. I think CBS allows team owners to drop all players or keep 1 or 2 players before the draft and are hidden until everyone has declared. I think it is something we will have to experiment with before the draft and soon.
