        Keeper League For Next Year

I have no problem having a keepers league for next year. But, this is a point I want to make.

I think the best projected FF players are gone by the end of the 3rd round each year.

Therefore, I think the keeper players for next year should come after the 2nd or 3rd round of this years draft. Otherwise, the first in line for this years draft will keep the best players on their team and the last pickers in this years draft will never get a chance at the best players in the draft next year.

        Walt

PS: Please note I am drafting high enough this year to be able to keep 2 of the best players out of next year's draft.

I don't think this will be the case, there are new breakout players every year. The first that comes to mind would be Chris Johnson. I'm too lazy to look it up right now, but I doubt he went in the first two rounds of last years draft. If he was on my roster at the end of last season and we had a keeper leauge there is no way I would have not kept him.

              2009 draft:
Chris Johnson, pick #9, round 2 - Green and Gold.

A better example would be this pick.

From last years draft......Round #8 pick #9 Green and Gold Finley, Jermichael TE GB.

Let's say Green and Gold (Mike) could keep Finley for his Round #8 in this years draft.

Realized that after I posted, I forgot a year. I was referring to 2008. But I think you get the point, top players come and go on a yearly basis.

                    Walt,

It won't matter which round a player was drafted if you keep him it will cost you your 1st round draft pick. If you keep 2 players it will cost you your 1st and 2nd round draft picks.

If I kept Finley it would cost me my 1st round draft pick. If I keep Johnson and Finley it would cost me both 1st and 2nd round draft picks.

Walt, you make a good point but the last person in the 1st round will have the 1st pick of round 2. So in this case Lawren will have 2 picks in the first 13 picks (the last pick of round 1 and the first pick of round 2). I think she should be able to select 2 keepers for next year. On the other hand Al will get 2 picks in the first 24 picks and it will be harder for him to get 2 keepers.

Will there be a rule that you can only keep your keeper for 1 year?

Being the nice guy that I am, I will offer to trade my 11th spot to Al to give him a better shot at getting two keepers.
