I was in a league once where you could trade for draft picks. If I traded my 5th round pick, I would have to get a pick back, like a 16th round, so that everyone still picked up the same number of players. We did a manual draft, though. I would think that would not be possible with the CBS computers.
That's right, I'm in NEXT YEAR MODE. I'll say it, I stunk up the joint this year but you just wait, I'm shooting for 6th place next year!

Originally posted by philsfanNow that we are a keeper league, off-season trades can happen, too, correct? If so, I am guessing it can only be for players and not for draft picks in next years draft, right?

In commissioner leagues, we have added a new feature, in the last year or two, allowing trades to be made during the off season.
A common misunderstanding among most owners is the assumption that once their season is completed, the off season starts.
That is not correct.
If your league uses a trade deadline, which most leagues do, you won't be able to offer trades until we archive the current season and the off season officially begins. Any attempts to make a trade before the season is archived will fail as no button to offer a trade is provided, only to execute one using commissioner powers.
The reason for this is the off season has not actually started until we archive the current season; the system still view the day as past the trade deadline. In football, for example, we usually archive each season after the NFL Super Bowl is completed.
Everything should be archived sometime around a month after the super bowl and postseason play in other sports have concluded. Once we post a message on your league saying that the season has been archived, you can begin making off season trades.
How do we trade draft picks?
The trading of draft picks is a draft day function that allows the teams in your league to trade their draft picks. This feature is only a draft option and cannot be used during the off-season or during the season. The purpose of the trading draft picks feature is to allow your league to trade draft picks after your league’s online draft has been scheduled in the SETUP/DRAFT & ROSTERS area. Teams will be able to trade their draft picks until the online draft has been completed.
To set this up go to SETUP/DRAFT & ROSTERS page to schedule your leagues live draft. Once your league’s online live draft has been scheduled go to SETUP/LEAGUE RULES/TRANSACTIONS. From there you can choose the option to allow your owners to trade draft picks.
Oh boy!!!

For Mike H. in case no one answered the question you posted. There is no trade deadline or waivers cut-off. The rules page says this:
No trades can be made after the trade deadline of 11:59 pm et 1/31/11.
Owners may not make trades during the offseason.
but based on recent posts, that restriction will be changed.
