Vikings-Eagles moved to Tuesday due to snow - NFL - SI.com

    Vikings-Eagles moved to Tuesday.

The decision to postpone the game came shortly after noon - before there was any snow accumulation in Philadelphia.

    --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

At game time there was 4.5 inches of snow on the ground.

I think the NFL is getting Soft. I was not able to get to the 1985 Snow Bowl Game because the roads were closed. But the Game was Played.

And what if this was Super Bowl Week In New York?

    Date December 1, 1985
    Stadium Lambeau Field
    Location Green Bay, Wisconsin
    Attendance 19,856

The Snow Bowl was a National Football League game played on December 1, 1985 between the Green Bay Packers and Tampa Bay Buccaneers at Lambeau Field in Green Bay, Wisconsin. It is known for its heavy snow. Only 19,856 were in attendance, with over 36,000 "no-shows," the most in Packers history. About 2/3 of the stadium was empty.[1] Twelve inches of snow fell before the game and another four to five inches fell during the game.[2]

The game itself saw the Packers dominate the Buccaneers en route to a 21-0 victory.[3] Despite four turnovers, the Packers offense gained 512 total yards on 31 first downs, with the Buccaneers recording only 65 yards on 5 first downs.[4] Packers wide receiver James Lofton received passes totaling over 100 yards from quarterback Lynn Dickey by halftime.[3] Packers defensive end Alphonso Carreker sacked Buccaneers quarterback and future Pro Football Hall of Fame enshrinee Steve Young a then team record four times.[5] It was Young's second game in the league after he left the USFL.[3]

NFL Videos: Top Ten Weather Games: The Snow Plow Game

ICE STATION ZEBRA -- On Sunday, in the warmth of the NBC Studios, I found it absurd the NFL called the Eagles-Vikings game because of snow and wind in Philadelphia. You play football in snow and wind. I've seen fabled, unforgettable games (The Tuck Rule Game, Michael Vick beating Brett Favre at Lambeau) in snow and wind. Part of NFL lore. And I agreed with Cris Collinsworth, who said last night on NBC that postponing the Minnesota-Philadelphia game until Tuesday night is a dangerous precedent, because, as he said, it opens the door to more weather-related postponements for whatever reason. This can't have been the first time a municipality declared a weather emergency on the day of an NFL game.

I'm just hoping the network has time to line up some more sponsors for this one. I really had enough of the single Dodge ad running ad naseum during the postponed Viking-Giant game.

As long as they are not replaced with the Toyota commercials with Fabio and Eric Estrada. They are really getting on my nerves.

Estrada says "I'm here to buy me a carrrrr!" And the women make a funny face and says "Me too."

Or how many couples do you know where the wife buy her husband a Lexus?
