The Greatest Play in Baseball History
"If a Nation expects to be ignorant and free in a state of civilization, it expects what never was and never will be.... If we are to guard against ignorance and remain free, it is the responsibility of every American to be informed."
-- Thomas Jefferson to Col. Yancey, 1816

Well, that certainly has my personal favorite play in baseball history beat by a long shot.

Mine is Kirk Gibson's homer in game 1 of the 1988 World Series to win the game and steal all of the momentum from the Oakland A's to help win that Championship.

I've been a Dodger fan since I was 8 years old. Steve Garvey was my favorite player.

And, at least Rick Monday was a Dodger at one time. And, it happened in Dodger stadium. So, it's perfect.

I had never heard of this, although my husband remembers it. Thanks for sharing - it gave me goosebumps.

WOW, that was a touching story, very patriotic. My Giants baseball hat comes off to those guys the next time I am at a baseball game and the Star Spangled Banner is played.
What I once considered boring, I now consider paradise.
