  • Greatest streak of all time in jeopardy

There is a current streak in college basketball that is beyond belief. True basketball fans know all about it but the casual observer may not.

Clemson has never beaten North Carolina at Chapel Hill. The streak started in 1926 and Clemson is currently 0-54 at Carolina. It is not like Clemson has not had good basketball teams during this period. They were favored in many of the match ups. One game went into double overtime and there has been 5 games decided by 2 points or less. However, this ridiculous streak continues.

They play again in Chapel Hill tomorrow night and Carolina is looking vulnerable. They lost badly yesterday to a weak GA Tech team. It was the least amount of points North Carolina has scored in the Roy Williams era. Clemson stomped Ga Tech on January 12th by the score of 87-62. Could this be the year the 84 year old streak ends? Somehow I doubt it.

Maybe they should play the UConn women.

The streak is safe for at least one more year. North Carolina won 75-65.

It was a close game throughout with 9 lead changes and 5 tied scores. However, the pressure of the streak weighed heavily on Clemson in the last 5 minutes. They were only down two but did not score any more points the rest of the game. Jerai Grant of Clemson, a 72% FT shooter, missed two free throws badly down the stretch and it was obvious they knew they were going to lose at that point.

        85 years and counting.
