Your pre-shot is one of the most important elements of your game.

Firstly step back about two yards behind your shot and check your target line. How strong is the wind? Adjust your aim accordingly if there is a strong wind.

Jack Nicklaus picks a point on the ground about a yard and half ahead of him. It may be a divot or a patch of grass. This is the direction Jack wishes to send the ball.

Align your body to your target so you are aiming in the right direction. By aiming and aligning your shot you already have a higher percentage of hitting the target before you have even taken a swing.

Someone told me that foreplay was the most of the important element of my game. Are you all talking about the same thing?

I had my swing checked a couple of years ago and my swing speed had dropped to about 75 mph. When I tried to swing harder my swing was off. Anyway, I tried the Adams senior flex and it really made a difference.

My swing speed is measured with a calendar.

I have just moved up a tee. Wierd thing about that is that from the forward tee I don't try to hit it as far, so wind up hitting it farther than I do from a back tee, where I try too hard.

I know I can hit it far if I do everything right, but I can't tell when that is. I played in a 3-some scramble this summer with the club Pro and another guy who hits his drives 280-300. Of course, we were playing two tees back from where I normally do. I hit first because my job was just to put one in play. We wound up using mine all the way to the green, which I got to in regulation.

At which time I wondered, "How did I do that?"

I played my first round on my new Florida course the day before yesterday, and will play later today if I feel like it. Last winter I got my drive figured out and started reaching greens in regulation from longer tees. I dropped my handicap a stroke in two months. Then when I got back up north I had totally lost whatever it was I had found.

Relating golf to this forum, when we started timesharing way back in the last century, I was surprised how few timeshare vacationers play golf. I still am.
