  • Angels trade Scoscia!!! Gretsky to take his place!!!???

That would be 1B Matthew Scoscia (Mike's son), traded by the Angels to the Cubs for OF Trevor Gretsky (Wayne's son).

It is "Gretzky" not "Gretsky" plus managers don't get traded.

Not often, but it has happened a few times in baseball history:

Re the misspelling - sorry. Posting too late at night.

But your are wrong about managers not getting traded. It's not common, but it does happen. The Mariners traded Lou Pinella to Tampa for Randy Winn and the Blue Jays traded John Farrell to the Red Sox for Mike Aviles.

Actually this is not a very meaningful trade. Matt Sciosca is 25, a .222 hitter and has never played above class A ball. Gretzky is younger at 21 but doesn't have a very sterling career. Neither one is going to make it to the show.

Yep - just a swap of minor league organizational filler. In not for the names of the players, it wouldn't have been worth a twit. The only place it would ever have appeared is in the transactions listing for the player at the Baseball Cube.
