Free agents

I think all of our free agents go through the wavier process. So if you got 1 free agent, then your free agent 2 is subject to another team claiming them before you could get them. Did you check the report on free agents after the deadline to see if someone else got your other 2 choices? That happened to me week 2 when my choice of a free agent was denied.

Here are the rules:

• Add/drops are handled by a waivers process.
• The waivers process runs on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
• The waiver order resets after each weeks' games.
• Dropped players remain on waivers for at least 2 day(s).

From what I can gather, if the add players has an asterik, it takes longer to go through the waiver process. If there is no asterik by his name, it usually processes it the next day.

You're right about how it works. This was a wavier transaction and the top team (best record and most points) gets the last choice each week.

You do a trade with another team. You make an offer to another "owner" and he can accept or reject the offer.

If a player is dropped on Weds. That player get the asterik. This allow time for everyone to see that he is now a free agent. The next team on the Wavier Order List get first chance for him.

You get one transaction and then you move down to the bottom of the transaction order. If no one else puts in a claim you may get all of your free agent players.

The wavier wire is setup so people in our league that don’t have access to a computer at 8:00 AM Tues. morning have a chance to improve their team. The way the players are claimed off the wavier wire is the reverse order of standings. If you are in the top of the standings you most likely won’t get FA players that had a good game that week. Those players will go to the teams with the worst record.


In another league I am in we don’t use a wavier wire. It is first come first serve. It make it hard to improve your team if don’t have access to a computer at 8:00 AM. The guys that have access scoop all the good FA.

In our league, TS4MS I tried to pick-up the following players by the waiver wire, as you did, and I didn’t get any of them.

Berrian, Bernard WR CHI
Clark, Desmond TE CHI
Grossman, Rex QB CHI

What I did was pick up players I think will be starters by mid season Vince Young, DeAngelo Williams, and Chad Jackson. If you are at the top of the standings in your league you will need to find players before they become roster trends.

Now Walt what you say regarding the way it works makes sense but What I do not understand is that the Jericho Cotchery trade was not my first choice. I had picked as my first choice Toomer, Amani and my last I believe was Clark, Desmond which I did not get.

Look at where it says "Denied". I got Toomer because I had requested him but I was below you when you got your first choice. Your 2nd choice was snagged by Happy Trails for the same reason. We had also requested add and drop with 2 of the 3 players you wanted. After you got choice 1, then your choices 2 and 3 had to pass through the rest of us. They didn't make it.

I see that it says denied but it does not say why I was denied. Your explantion does make sense. I thought picking them up was a shoe in. I see you have to be lucky to get what you ask for.
