USC Football: The team of the 2000's

I just thought I would start a new thread in honor of our new moderator mshatty.

My alma mater is on a roll. We've won 49 out of our last 51 games and we had the number 1 recruiting class in the country for 3 years running.

I went to the USC - Nebraska game last month and I'm going to the Cal game in Nov.

It's a GREAT time to be a Trojan.

Whatever happens for the rest of this decade, I think the USC Trojans will be the team of the decade.

Why do you think USC turned it around with Pete Carroll who was not as successful in the pros when his predecessors couldn't?

Do you think USC will be on probation because of the Reggie Bush agent $ funding?

They are loaded to bear! I mean who wouldn't want to have those USC sweaters cheering for them?

Pete Carroll is the penultimate college football coach. He is such a cheerleader himself that he is very infectious with the recruits, the players and the media. They love him. This seems to be a common trait of all of the great college football coaches in history.

Right now, USC has a lot going for it. The University is excellent academically now. When I went there, USC meant University of Second Choice. Now, it's an elite University.

It's in a great location for playing football. The weather is always good.

Pete Carroll plays true freshman and has a policy of the best player will always play. That keeps everyone on their toes constantly trying to improve their game or lose their spot.

Our schemes are Pro football sets and so it's well known that if you play ball at USC, you will be well prepared for the Pros.

Our recruiting has been so good that we tend to keep most of the top talent in California and we steal a few top recruits from around the country.

The system works and every time we lose a great player, we replace him with 2 others who will be ready to step in at a moments notice.

Chris Carlisle is the strength and conditioning coach. He is renouned in the college football world as one of the best. So our players don't tire out at the end of games. That's one of the contributing factors to our 2nd half strength in games.

It's been a truly amazing run that could all end if Reggie Bush did take the money and anyone at USC knew it. If that happens, then the USC run will be over and we will go into the tank for another 20 years just like it happened in the early 80's when we went on probation. boy, I hope that doesn't happen. I am going to put my head in the sand and let the chips fall where they may.

3 Heisman trophy winners in 4 years. Unbelievable.

Where are you Big 10, Big 12, SEC?

Surely there are fans of the Big 10, Big 12, SEC schools who may disagree with Boca's analysis that USC is the best!?

Or

Maybe he's right and no one else has a chance against USC this year.

I don't think we are the best this year. I think we are the best of the decade.

If any other team accumulates a better record than 49-2 in the decade of 200X, then they qualify as a candidate in a runoff.

Plus they would need to have 3 heisman trophy winners and at least 2 national championships.

College game is 99% recuiting, and with USC atop its region, and no other team in west is close to its status while other region usually has several teams very close in status. Consider this is 2006 now. I will guess Boca will keep his claim.
