  • MLB Sighting !!!

Well, last evening my husband invited me out for our 26th anniversary dinner at the "Blue Ginger" in Wellesley. www.ming.com/blueginger . It's Ming Tsai's restaurant. Very nice. Asian fusion menu.

Sooooooo, why is this sports newsworthy?

As we're being led to our seats, DH says, "did you see who you just walked by ?" "Huh?", was my snappy reply. Drum roll please.........................
"David Ortiz". Yes, Big Papi was about 10 feet away at a table with six others including Ming Tsai (who would get up frequently to keep things humming in the dining room and kitchen).

I, of course, walked to the ladies' room so I could just walk by his table again and again. He looked up once. Smitten, no doubt.

He had the mixed sorbet for dessert.

I'm not sure which is better - almost rubbing elbows with Ortiz or dining at the Blue Ginger, one of my favorite Boston-area restaurants. A bit noisy at times, but the food is wonderful!

I am sure big Pap will never be the same after meeting you. I know how you felt as I got the jitters when I was talking with Chad Pennington. The Car salesman said I was transformed from a tough sale to a puppy dog after I met him.

Isn't it amazing ? I didn't approach Big Papi as I didn't want to bother him or be obnoxious. The mental telepathy approach didn't work either. Just leave the man alone. Some folks came over to him and he was gracious, but I felt bad for him just trying to have a nice meal out with friends and wifey. I know this was different in your meeting with Chad at the car dealership.

Once, long ago, when we were in the grocery line here in my town, Robert "Chief" Parrish was ahead of us in line. He had all sorts of munchies; Doritos, cheese whiz, potato chips, etc. Interestingly, he got busted a day later when a Fedex or similar made an "herbal" delivery.

My backyard neighbor was Bobby Orr, Number 4, but we really didn't know him, mostly his dog who was friends with ours.

Things that make you say, "hmmmmm".........

Yes, very nice, indeed and no driving into Boston or paying $$$$ just to park.

                Congrats on your anniversaries!!!!!

Great story.....nice of you not to bother him. It is a good thing it wasn't JD when he was still on the team....now we know you would have jumped him anniversary or not.

You mean that you don't carry your Bosox paraphernalia around in case you might meet some of your hero's?

It is one thing to have an autograph on a picture, a bat, ball, poster, or something like that vs. a cocktail napkin.

. Yes, before Johnny Demon's (intentional) defection, he would not have stood a prayer, but guys who can't remain faithful to team or other (ahem) are crossed off my list.

3.)"You mean that you don't carry your Bosox paraphernalia around in case you might meet some of your hero's?"
Good idea for any future post-season encounters !

Living in a National League city, I wasn't as excited as Beags but it's always fun to see someone famous/infamous in person.

                          Nice sighting!!

That is too funny......I recently saw a movie and I can't remember the title...but anyway....the girl stripped down to her 'undies' and it said 'Red' on one cup and the other was 'Sox' and of course red and white....I think the bottoms said '1918' or something like that. The guy was a Yankee fan and could not get himself to 'get involved'.....well I thought of you when I saw this (just the humor of it).

Dang I can't remember the movie....I am sure it was not Fever Pitch....I will think of it.

Was it "We Still Believe. The Red Sox Movie" starring BigFrank and Beags ?
